Snowdonia - Jun/Jul 2007

Document Actions

This year's Fat Dad's tour took us back to Snowdonia from the 28th to the 30th of June. We based ourselves at Totters Hostel in the heart of Caernarfon, and they were very welcoming. The rooms are clean and the owners friendly and very helpful when it comes to drying off wet kit: what more could you ask for?

There was no minibus this year, people made their way in small groups; this meant that those who needed to leave early for other commitments could do so. So there were between 15 and 12 of us there depending on which day you're talking about.

The full list of hardy souls were:

  • Jason Ayers
  • Greg Munro
  • Mark Howard
  • Roger Withers
  • Mark Thomas
  • Stuart Campbell
  • Ian Gregory
  • Robin Tyler
  • Tom Lisle
  • Peter Wilson
  • Colin Carswell
  • Robert Brown
  • Tony Smith
  • Russell Swart

On the first day of climbing, the weather was kind to us initially, and then turned into a stinging rain which persisted until we started our descent. The second day was dry, if overcast, and perfect walking weather. On the last day, it rained again, but as the walk was lower-altitude it didn't detract too much from the experience.
